Im Internet [[ linking to ]]: Lecture: Maps and Projection, Dr. Rodrigue: Geography 140:: Introduction to Physical Geography, Lecture Map Projectionsverbreitet Rodrigue die hübsche - aber ironisch-überzogene und doch vielleicht treffende - Bemerkung: Peters claimed that the Mercator map was "racist", because it made Africa and South America look small in comparision with Europe, North America, and Greenland. Yes, the Mercator projection does do that, but the purpose of the map never was to show equal area; it was to aid navigation! Basically, this boils down to Peters saying that, if you're the captain of a boat and you'd like an easyto interpret navigation map, you're racist. |
